This week: it's an early Christmas shopping spree. Beautiful preserves and honey, hand-crafted gifts, bottles from nearby wineries, delectable baking; what's not to love about shopping local? Santa may even pop in for a visit so you, the kids, and your favourite four-legged friends can take a few photos with him. Avoid crazy mall lineups, plastic backdrops, and high photo-fees; bring your camera or smart-phone and enjoy the visit. All under cover as the Haney Farmers Market moves from Memorial Peace Park to the greenhouses at Grow & Gather! Parking is free.
There's always something interesting going on at Grow & Gather! Visit the nursery for the autumn farmers markets, meet your friends for a Make & Take workshop, take in a class or seminar, or just relax by the koi pond!
This week: pumpkin painting at the Children's Table, by donation. Funds donated contribute to costs of supplies for kids' activities at Haney Farmers Markets throughout the season. Visit the Haney Farmers Market when it moves undercover from Memorial Peace Park to the greenhouses at Grow & Gather! Parking is free.
Earthbox Junior systems are ideal containers for a young gardener's first garden plot! We'll help budding gardeners plan and plant their very own colourful purple or lime Earthbox with veggies and strawberries of their choosing. We'll begin with some plant "starts" for an instant result, and add a few seeds for a surprise down the line. When they are all done, they'll take the gardens home to a sunny spot on the patio. This class is designed for gardeners aged 4 through 12; please plan to supply grown-up assistance for children under 7. Kids are welcome to bring their own gardening gloves and aprons. One Earthbox project may be shared between two children, but only if they promise to share!
Capacity: 12 Earthboxes (max 24 children)
Fee: $40 per Earthbox; take-home value is nearly $70.
Online registration coming soon.
